Arnhem September 1999
The photos on this page give an impression of the 55th commemorations of Operation Market Garden. The photos below are taken on the Ginkelse Heide. The first two photos show the annual paradrop. Among the paras that jumped that day were 12 veterans who jumped at Arnhem in World War Two. The other photos show some of the military vehicles that were present. Unfortunately the quality of the photos is not what I had hoped for.
This photo is taken in front of Hartenstein which houses the Airborne museum on Saturday the 20th September
1999.
These photos show military vehicles participating in the parade in Oosterbeek on Sunday afternoon. This was a great event in which even a Bren and a Loyd carrier participated. Also because of the participating re-enactors. Although this was meant to be a British event, you can also see US-vehicles participating. This was because there were not enough British vehicles available to carry the veterans, so one had to allow US-vehicles. Most of the vehicles are owned by members of the Dutch MV-club Keep Them Rolling.
